Hi, I'm Sara.

My Journey Helping Others Started With My Own Health Issues...

Growing up on a Standard American Diet, I did not realize that food is medicine.

In my 20s, long work hours and a ridiculously unhealthy lifestyle wreaked havoc on my immune system. When I was at my sickest, I was diagnosed with both Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Celiac disease.

Disappointed by the run-around from conventional medicine, I knew something had to change.

Back then, I had no idea how important food is for our health, and how the right food helps us to heal and prevent disease.

I searched for the healing modalities that would help me regain my true health.

Yoga helped me reconnect to my physical body, which ignited my passion for holistic health.

I began studying at the Nutrition Therapy Institute; their rigorous, science-based program taught me all I needed to know about holistic nutrition. I began a love affair with cooking and as a result, began eating better.

I applied food-as-medicine philosophies to my own life and in a short time, I healed and reversed my autoimmune diseases.

There are some who believe it was a miracle. In reality, many diseases can be reversed through a change in diet and lifestyle.

But there’s a catch.

Every time you eat is an opportunity to nourish your body.

Health and happiness cannot be fixed with nutrition alone.

I was the perfect role model for my clients - yoga teacher, holistic nutritionist, nutrition instructor, home cook and wellness mama.

But, inside I was neglecting the most essential element of my true health - my spirit.

Healthy food selection

Even as I navigated the holistic healing realm in support of my physical health, I perpetually ignored an element that was indeed a root cause of my ailments.

I was in an emotionally abusive marriage.

A secret I kept for far too long.

I was held hostage by my fear of leaving, the wellbeing of my children and the approval of others (family, friends, clients) because I did not want to be seen as a failure.

I was being poisoned by daily consumption of emotional trauma, which became stored in my body.

Under those circumstances, I would never get better (despite “doing everything right”).

A healthy outside starts from the inside.

My true path to healing was revealed.

Thankfully, I have had a strong spiritual connection to God since I was a little girl (of course, God goes by other names in other spiritual traditions). In the most simplistic of terms, a healing presence of “energy” has blessed my entire life.

Once I remembered this connection to God, tuned into it, harnessed the power of this healing energy and shifted my focus to healing my spirit, everything changed.

I did the work of healing trauma and trapped emotions.

I harnessed my intuition and realized my life needed to go in a different direction.

My painful divorce became a powerful journey to "heal myself".

When inner work is addressed, anything is possible.

Food as medicine is still my foundation.

However, Reiki, massage, therapy, group work, community, healthy relationships, sauna, journaling, prayer, and more have worked their way to the forefront of my daily “diet.”

The journey of my own life helps serve as a blueprint for how I support my clients.

My passion to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for nutrition extends into every aspect of my work and my life.

The nutritional wisdom I have accumulated is from my own journey, as well as acquired from my beloved clients.
